I think one of the main problems in our schools today at this moment is bullying. What people believe is sometimes why bullying has gotten so large. People stereotype bullying as beating up and more of calling names and pushing over, when really there are many types of bullying these days. These include small problems like gossiping, laughing with other friends at their friends and even just simply ditching their friends. They do not seem like a large part of bullying, but almost every person I ask would tell you they’ve experienced it once and it hasn’t cause a positive effect on them.
I shall narrow all the schools of the world down to one for an example and this is an all girl’s school, coincidentally. This video enactment is showing you a few possibilities of what could happen on an ordinary day at school.

I have completed my WISE video on bullying. It goes for a mere 4 minutes but is still very effective and get the message of bullying across.
It is all based on different people and their views on bullying. There are teenage girls, teachers, parents etc. They all share the same view, bullying is bad. The the video goes into, if we know bullying is bad, why do it? Most for attention, some for self worth and more. It involves parts of songs like Ugly by the Sugababes, Caught in the Crowd by Kate Miller Hike, Bully by Eminim.
It also has a re-enactment of bullying. Its of girls bullying another girl. It really shows another type of bullying that isn't really seen as bullying.
People label bullying as punching and hitting and more, but there is emotional bullying and the effects words can have on someone.
This video shows this.
The video is on my computer at home being edited. It needs a few last touches then i will post in on my WISE blog and also show the class.
I hope to show the middle school as well.

I will also be doing a video on bullying.
I will include people of all ages and they will say their memories of bullying and their experiences with it. They will say ideas to stop bullying and why they believe it is such a big problem in todays society in teenagers.
I want this video to relate to others more, than just a book which people read.

Age of Indifference

Since my last blog, i have finished writing my book and it is not at my aunts as she is drawing pictures.
It has fun facts, drawings and lots of different texts so it will relate the the adolesent age. THey react more to pictures and colours than just plain black and white text a page long.
The name of the book is- "The Age of Indifference". This is mostly saying that the age of an adolesent is an age of indifference whereas children have a lack of sympathy and concern towards others. This explains alot of teenagers feelings when bullying.
I believe this will be a good book and i have already started to show people around schools. It took altogether 10 hours to complete.

Idea's for WISE

I have found out all the factual side of the WISE project that i'm doing, so now i need to start to put it into use. I brainstormed a few ideas on what i could do to get the message of bullying across to all students. Here are some ideas:
A website- to post everyday advise to all those who read it.
A book- to help with what to do with bullying and how to prevent it and signs of bullying etc.
A video- An informational video of all things to do with bullying in schools and with girls and how to prevent it.

I think the best idea was to write a book. This would mean the 10 hour community service will be well spent on this book with writing it and laminating it etc.

I will spend:
1.5 hours on planning the book. It will be approx 22 pages.
There will be chapters
1. What is bullying
2. Bullying between girls
3. How to spot bullying
4. Why they bully
5. What to do if you are the bullied
6. Stories from victims of bullying

WISE

What i am doing for WISE is an informational package mostly about girls and bullying, and their different ways of bullying.
I emailed the school counselor last week and i have received an email back saying what day to check in with her for information. I will probably be doing a video that teenage girls can actually relate too everyday situations and how to deal with it.
Some of these include:
- exclusion from a group
- encouraging other kids to ignore or pick on a specific child
- being friends one week and then turning against a peer the next week with no incident or reason for the alienation
- depression due to not feeling apart of a group

These will be the main points i will be basing my video on.

WISE

Last week at WISE, we did a quiz to figure out our habit's of mind. This was to learn our easiest way to learn and the way we think. The habit i got the most points on was metabolism. I enjoyed the quiz as I figured out a lot about me and the way my mind works. I am excited for WISE this year as it's new and seems to be a fun subject.
This is my first blog for WISE and i will be posting one every lesson.
